Plot synopsis
Teddy, a young English boy, and John his Indian friend are caught out in a sudden storm in the jungle where they are walking together. The rain causes the river to swell, and the current washes away a mongoose which Teddy saves from drowning. Following this misadventure he is paralysed from the waist down. The mongoose, which he names Riki-Tikki-Tavi, keeps him company.
