Plot synopsis
A small side street in the suburbs of Riga, the capital of Latvia. It is no more than eight hundred meters long. In the town centre the supporters of Gorbachov’s policy are having a heated argument with sympathisers of yesterday’s policies. In front of the prosecutor’s office pickets are protesting against the injustice and malpractice that have been committed. The people living in this street do not seem to be involved in political life, yet, is this really so? Attentive and patient observers, we try to capture something of the contradictory and dramatic fate of the Latvian people.
