Film director and actor, born in 1971 in Tallinn. He graduated as an actor from the Drama School of the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in 1994 and started working at the Estonian Drama Theatre. In addition to acting, he spent years working as a first and second assistant director on various international film projects. In 2002, he moved to Moscow to study directing at the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography. Since 2004, he has worked as a director on TV series and films in both Estonia and Russia. He is an associate professor at the Drama School of the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. “Your Honor!” (2019), his latest feature film, premiered at the Shanghai festival.
