Director and script-writer. Born in Moscow on 1 June 1977. Moved with her family to Geneva (Switzerland) at the age of twelve. Acted in a small theatre company, then studied at film schools in France and the US (courses for script-writers and casting directors in Maine). Author of several short and documentary films. In 2004 made her first feature film, the comedy ìLove Expressî (Switzerland). ìFree Translationî is her second feature film.

Née à Moscou en juin 1977, Elena Hazanov arrive à l'âge de 12 ans à Genève avec sa famille. Après l'obtention de son baccalauréat, elle part pendant plusieurs mois aux Etats-Unis, dans le Maine, où elle suit les cours d'écriture, de scénario et de direction d'acteurs au Film and Television Workshop à Rockport. De retour en Suisse, elle suit les stages d'écriture de Pico Bercowitch à Genève et d'écriture de scénario avec Roberto McKee. Assistante de réalisation sur des tournages de longs et courts métrages, elle réalise son premier long métrage, "Love Express", en 2004. "La Traductrice" est son deuxième film.
