Biography
Sergey Yastrzhembskiy was born in 1953 in Moscow, Russia.
He has pursued a career in journalism, diplomacy, and politics. Worked for magazines «Problems of Peace and Socialism», «Megapolis», «VIP». Chaired the Board of Directors of the «TVC» television channel. Ex-Russian Ambassador to Slovakia, Press-Secretary to Boris Yeltsin, first Russian President, deputy head of the Presidential Office.
2000–2008 — Aide to Vladimir Putin, Special Presidential Envoy to the EU.
Sergey Yastrzhembskiy has been a photographer for 20 years and studied photography under Lev Melikhov. Sergey Yastrzhembskiy has been a photographer for 20 years and studied photography under Lev Melikhov. His favourite genres are aerial photography, urban landscapes, architecture.
Prizewinner in the competition for the best photo-report about Moscow sponsored by the museum Moskovsky Dom Fotografii (The Moscow House of Photography) under the aegis of the Moscow City Government.
Sergey Yastrzhembskiy’s works are part of collections of the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, Maison Europeenne de la Photographie (The European House of Photography in Paris), Museum of Contemporary Photography (Milan, Italy), the Allinari Fund (Florence, Italy), Moskovsky Dom Fotografii, The South Sakhalinsk Museum of Art, State Art Gallery in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia; The Irkutsk Oblast Art Museum, and Slovakian Ministry of Culture, as well as private collections in Russia, Belgium, Italy, France, Portugal, Slovakia.
Sergey Yastrzhembskiy had his works published in magazines «Fotodelo», «Tretyakovskaya Galereya», «Profil», «Diplomat», «Ogonek», «Expert», «Voyage», «FotoTRAVEL», «Safari», «Elite, Life/Travel», newspapers «Izvestia», «Moskovsky Komsomolets», «Kommersant», «Rossiiskaya Gazeta».
