Plot synopsis
This is Navy tall tales, a story about a civilian navigator arriving at a naval base with a monkey on his shoulder. The very first night he beat his commander playing billiards, unaware that the man was his future commander. The navigator is “exiled” to a minesweeper, which is to be repaired in order to sell it to a possible enemy “for scraps” . To repair it, the most daring sailors from the guardhouse are recruited. When the time of handing the ship over to the possible enemy comes, the sailors refuse to give it away and sink it.
This is an ironic look at the Russian Navy. As though the navy is a small replica of Russia.
The leads – Kseniya Tsurina and Vasily Kornylyev – are debuting in film. Ivan Ivanovich Krasko portrays the boatswain.
