Plot synopsis
A documentary film “Days and Centuries of Chingiz Aitmatov“ is devoted to the outstanding contemporary writer and public figure Chingiz Aitmatov. Chingiz Aitmatov is a phenomenon of world culture, a writer without whom would not be possible to imagine a portrait of 20th century literature; he wrote in Russian, it is from Russian that his books have been translated into more than 170 languages of the world. In the film a breathtaking panorama of the battles of Chingiz Khan and Tamerlane is shown, and at the same time we see Oykumen of Chingiz Aitmatov. The territory of his “Conquests“, crossing the oceans, reached all continents, the man with the feather turned out to be more powerful than the man with the sword. And in Russian he was able to reveal the Kyrgyz heart. The film turns to the topic that was raised by Chingiz Aitmatov back in 1986 at the Issyk-Kul forum - “On the responsibility of leading politicians, science and culture for the fateful processes taking place in the World, on the establishment of a dialogue between East and West“, extremely relevant and necessary today. In the film, in the first person Chingiz Aitmatov and his sister Rosa tell us about themselves, about their parents, their family “enemies of the people“, repressions. Roza Torikulovna tells about the Tatar roots of their mother Nagima Aitmatova. The film also presents conversations with famous writers, art historians, filmmakers, politicians, diplomats and public figures.
