1960. An outbreak of smallpox, an incurable and deadly disease that was thought to have been eradicated in the USSR, occurs in Moscow. The KGB assigns Colonel Shilov to combat the potential epidemic. He immediately takes on the case, as he has a long-standing grudge against smallpox. The task is to find all those infected and stop the spread of the virus. But it's not that simple. The infection has penetrated the shadowy side of life in the capital. Shilov is forced to search for answers in the depths of the criminal world, bringing its inhabitants and their secrets to light.
