Plot synopsis
October, year 1866. Dostoevsky is in very difficult situation: if he fails to hand in new novel «The Gambler» to his publisher in a month the latter will be authorized to publish his works free of charge during 9 years. In order to fasten his work Fyodor Mikhaylovich hires stenographer - young Anna Snytkina. She becomes not only the first aid of the Russian literature genius but also his wife. Some scenes from «The Gambler» are introduced in the film.
