The second part of the series by Ivan Tverdovsky (opening with the film “The Big Vacation of the 30s”) tells of several decades of the Soviet history.
Film-collage “The 40s: Big Games, Small People” is made of film chronicle of the 40s, strange times combining Stalin repressions, the tragedy of the Great Patriotic war, and the triumph of the Russian soldiers in Europe.
Ivan Tverdovsky is almost not involved in the chronicles, he does not try to play with them, nor does he ring the new ring to them. He sees the 40s as a time of great tragedies, and looking at the faces of their participants, he attempts to see the reasons and make his conclusions.
