Plot synopsis

Based on a novel by V.Belov. Egor Polushkin was surnamed as «queer devil», «misfortune carrier» in his native village. Everything he puts his hand to turns to be a misfortune for him. At last, Polushkin becomes a forester and finds himself. Bashful blunderer is manful and decisive now. He protects the nature, birds and animals. His wife comes back to him. At the end hardly escapes death by an poachers’ hands.
