The film is based on a true story. In 1942 the former choreographer, Lieutenant Korbut, receives an order to form a dance troupe. In the besieged Leningrad Korbut manages to find his former students, dancers, starving, and bring them to the front. The film features poetry by Olga Berggoltz and music by Dmitry Shostakovich. The film received the award of Kaunas central committee of Komsomol at the national film festival in Vilnius in 1981.
