Plot synopsis
A Russian ballerina struggling for one play in Bolshoy theatre.
Young and extraordinarily talented dancer Yulia Olshanskaya from a small mining town draws a winning ticket: she is noticed by a former ballet dancer Pototsky and predicts her great future worthy of the main stage in the country. However, in order to become a diamond, any – even the most out-standing diamond – needs cutting. The path to the legendary stage of the Bolshoi Theatre for Julia lies through the ballet school, where the even more capricious teacher takes care of the unruly provincial girl. Turning into a prima will require incredible self-denial, and Yulia will have to learn by her own experience that the big ballet is not only in the whiteness of tutu-skirts, the gold of the loges and the gliding of the silk ribbons. But no obstacles will stop the one who has the Big Dream.
