Biography
Born February 21, 1942 in the town of Kotlas, Arkhangelsk region.
Honored Artist of the RSFSR (06/11/1982).

Father - Bykov Valentin Mikhailovich, actor. Mother - Alentova Irina Nikolaevna, actress
The father died when the girl was not yet 4 years old, and Vera and her mother left for Ukraine, where Vera attended primary school. Then they went to Barnaul in Altai, where Vera received her secondary education. Afterwards, she entered the medical institute of the city of Barnaul, but, dreaming of becoming an actress, at the same time she entered the At university, she decided to show her acting skills at the Barnaul Drama Theater, where her mother worked. The latter advised her daughter to study theater at the Moscow Theater Institute but before working for a year in a factory in Barnaul.
In 1961 she entered the Nemirovich-Danchenko School-Studio at the Moscow Art Theater in the course of V.P. Markova. During her 2nd year, she married student, future director, Vladimir Menshov. In 1965, after graduating from the Studio School, she went to work at the Pushkin Theater in Moscow, where she quickly achieved great success.
In 1979 she played the main female role in the film “Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears”. The film received numerous awards in the Soviet Union, where it was watched by more than 84 million spectators, and abroad where it received the Oscar for best foreign film in 1980.
