Plot synopsis
The series is based on the real trials of famous Soviet lawyers.
1966. It is the end of the Thaw period. Nina Metlitskaia, an ambitious young lawyer, takes on the most complicated cases including accusations of dissidence. The girl has a chance to move from a small legal office in a remote suburb of Moscow to Branch No. 1, the most important law firm in the Soviet Union. Now Nina must prove that she deserves to take up this new position. Among the clients defended by Metlitskaya are a major thief, a millionaire head of an underground business, a music lover accused of espionage, a movie star convicted of murdering her partner, dissidents, the entire history of the Brezhnev Soviet Union. And also one of two teenagers wrongly accused of a horrible crime.
