Horse breeder Egor, his wife and a small child settle on an unfamiliar alas. Once upon a time there was another family that lived here. Of its members, only the old woman Alexandra, a neighbor of the heroes, is alive. Soon the new settlers begin to be tormented by mystical horrors. Alexandra tells the skeptic Egor that the place where they live is cursed, and in the past, shamans used to intervene here to prevent evil from breaking out. The Soviet government has upset the balance of power, sent shamans to the prisons, and now there is no one to hold back the Darkness.
