Plot synopsis

Loosely based on Mark Aldanov’s novel of the same title. The film is set in St. Petersburg in winter of 1917, on the eve of the February revolution. The secret police investigators, rich merchants and their families, journalists, bankers and military engineers live with the premonition of approaching disaster which will spare no one.
