Big but poor family of charming and talented signor Leonido Popogatto lives in populous slums. His wife signora Valeria, his daughter Fiarella, and his elder sister Matilda are packed in small shabby apartment on the last floor. The family keeps going by small frauds, an author of which, and also an actor and a director is signor Popagatto. Under the pretence of some important person he comes to society receptions and swipes drinks and food from tables. But one fine morning he gets a brilliant idea how to become rich once and for all, and to get his daughter married a respectable man!
