Andrei Kravchuk's 'Admiral' is the latest big beast on the scene, looking likely to break new local box office records. That said it's also a subtle film, that treats its central subject -- the renowned Tsarist Polar explorer, World War I naval commander and leader of the White Army forces in Siberia, Admiral Alexander Kolchak -- with sympathy, itself a piece of historical revisionism that certainly wouldn't have been possible a decade or two ago.<...>
