A crew from Russian and Kazakh television travels to Afghanistan to shoot a documentary film about "The Roads of Alexander of Macedon." They get lost, and what should have been a simple work trip turns out to be a dangerous adventure. Their only hope of escape lies in their guide. He is a laconic man who once fought in these Afghan lands, losing a leg in the fighting. It turns out that he has his own reasons for returning to this country.
