Plot synopsis
The TV series "Genius" is dedicated to the great Russian composers: Prokofiev, Rakhmaninov, Stravinsky, Scriabin, Shostakovich. This year the world celebrates the 50th anniversary of the death of Prokofiev and the 60th anniversary of Rakhmaninov; in 2005, it was the 30th anniversary of the death of Shostakovich and the 90th anniversary of Scriabin.
It is difficult to overstate the significance of Russian music. In this TV series, we want to draw a parallel between the life of each of our five heroes and the music they wrote. Each of them had a tragic fate in their own way, and the work of each of them had a significant influence on the world musical process.
Composer Igor Stravinsky woke up famous the morning after the premiere of his "Firebird" in Paris, and for 60 years (!) no one could predict what surprises he would give the audience in each of the following works. Stravinsky is the most flamboyant modernist in the entire contemporary repertoire, and his music has no boundaries: it is understood and attracted equally in all time zones. Stravinsky entered music like an elephant in a china shop; he turned everything upside down and, as it turned out, expanded the framework of an entire century....
