Documentary shooting, field recordings of sounds and voices of the inhabitants of the village Chakola (Pinega district of Arkhangelsk region) formed the basis of this film. The only fiction character is synchronized with animated water, “implanted” in true shooting, which will fill the half-ruined wooden architecture of the Russian North. In this way the director shows the invisible part of the unusual northern culture. Absence of serfdom influenced the way of life in the Arkhangelsk region in general. The Soviet period could not completely destroy the ritual tradition. The connection of the multi-kilometer artery, the Pinega River, and local female magic still supports the dying village.
