The Samodurov family lives in the village of Uglyanets in the Voronezh region. Shura and her brothers Alyosha and Petya have been blind since birth. After the death of her parents and older brother, Shura refused to send her sick brothers to a psychiatric clinic. The three of them have been living together for the past 10 years.
