Plot synopsis
The younger son of the Marquis de Granier, Octave (Mozzhukhin), falls into the trap of a femme fatale, the theatre actress Yvonne (Lissenko), and flees with her to Constantinople, and from there to Paris. He becomes a film actor; at first his career develops successfully, but then a chain of misfortunes begins when the false charge of card-shaping is levelled against him. Poverty and his daughter's illness drive him to rob his father. Octave enters the parental home, and when his father catches him on the scene of the crime, he shoots him with a revolver... and at this moment he wakes up from his terrible nightmare.
