Note : Konstantin Seliverstov’s film can hardly be called a screen version of Gogol’s comedy. Neither is it a comedy, strictly speaking. It is an experiment in combining feature and documentary elements. The director uses Gogol’s scenes as a backbone which he covers sincere monologues of common people about the creation, everyday life and demise of the family. Funny, improbable, paradoxical, sad real-life stories about our half-absurd day-to-day living. There is a personal, intimate portion for everyone and it may contain answers to the most painful universal questions. Or it may raise even more questions… (http://eng2morrow.web-soft.ru/work/programm/konkurs/218)
