January 1917. Workers and peasants of Russia, forcibly sent to the trenches by the tsarist administration, are forced to defend the interests of the tsar, the landowners and the capitalist exploiters. Bolshevik worker Yakov Oriel, carrying out a Party directive, tells the soldiers the truth about the war, about the revolution, about the fact that the overthrow of absolutism does not yet mean the liberation of the workers from the yoke of the landowners and capitalist exploiters. Using the example of one regiment, the film describes the events that occurred throughout the Russian army between February and October of 1917.
