The director of this film has been shooting the two film
characters living in the neighbouring villages in the Lipetsk
Region for several years. The former, Vanya, is a poet,
somewhat Kulibin, who is trying to build a spaceship. The
latter, Kolya, had been drinking hard for dozens of years,
and then he suffered a deep shock, after which he
becomes a teetotaller. The most remarkable thing about
the film is the author view, which cannot be called a mere
outside view. The film characters are near and dear
people to the director. Their pain and joy, losses and
accomplishments are felt by him as his own. Together
with his characters he is trying to find answers to eternal
questions typical of Russia.
