In the XX and XXI centuries Moscow underwent three reconstructions. The first corresponded to imperial ambitions and wanted to give the city a monumental and solemn character which symbolized the triumph of socialism. The second, that of Khroutchev, responded to the need to build housing in large numbers. Finally, the third, which has taken place over the past twenty years, marked the irruption in the architecture of wild, cynical capitalism. The film follows the history of these reconstructions of Moscow and tries to compare their importance in society and in history.
