He started acting at the age of 13. Assistant directors Krasnopolsky and Uskov chose Alexei to play the role of the son of one of the main characters in the very popular TV series "The Eternal Call".
In 1981 he worked for eight months at the Syzran Drama Theater and then returned to Moscow.
In 1986 he graduated from the acting faculty of GITIS (Russian Drama University) (class of O. P. Tabakov).
From 1986 to 1991 he was an actor at the Oleg Tabakov studio-theatre (Tabakerka).
He played the main role in Roman Vityuk's play "Phaedra" at the Taganka Theatre. He played in the musical comedy "Metro" and in the play "Novyï".
In recent years he has worked mainly in cinema.
