Aleksandr Strijenov est né le 6 juin 1969 et appartient à la famille de l’acteur Oleg Strijenenov. Il étudie au célèbre Théâtre d’ Art de Moscou (МХАТ) où en 1990 il participe à l’atelier d’Aleksandr Kaliaguine.
Il apparaît pour la première fois à l’écran dans le film Leader en 1984. De 1989 à 1991, il joue au Théâtre de Moscou dans des pièces contemporaines. A partir de 1991, il joue au Théâtre Anton Tchekhov sous la direction de Leonid Trouchkin. Il a des rôles dans de nombreux films jusqu’en 1995, date à laquelle il se tourne vers la télévision en particulier avec son célèbre Cinématographe sur ORT. Début 1997, ORT lui propose, avec sa femme, de diriger la chaîne « Bonjour ».
Un de ses rôles préférés est celui de Djouda qu’il interprète au Théâtre Anton Tchekhov dans Célébration. Il travaille également, comme créatif, dans une agence de publicité. Il a deux filles avec sa femme, l’actrice Ekatirana Strijenova.
