Born on November 16, 1947 in Sverdlovsk in the family of actor Adolph Ilyin and pediatrician Zinaida Ilyin.
In 1969 graduated from the acting faculty of the Sverdlovsk theater school (class of F. Grigorian).
Worked at the Moscow theater "Skoromokh" ("The Jester") under the direction of G. Yudenich, and at the Kazan theater of the young spectator.
From 1974 to 1989 worked at the Moscow Academic Vladimir Mayakovsky under the direction of A. Goncharov.
Since 1989 the actor has been working on contracts.
