Biography
Born in 1949 in Moscow.
In 1971 graduated from the Film Institute VGIK, scriptwriting department, class of K. Vinogradskaya.
Honoured Artist of Russia, laureate of the Russian State Prize and the Government Prize. Three times award winner of the NIKA, holder of numerous national and international professional awards for screenplays. Scriptwriter of over 20 features, including “The Train has Stopped”, “Parade of the Planets”, “Plumbum, or The Dangerous Game”, “Time of a Dancer”, “Dreaming of Space”.
In 2006 he organized the Passenger Film Company. Debuted as film director with “Soaring” (2007), participant of the Venice IFF and winner of two awards of the Russian Film Critics’ Guild. “Innocent Saturday” is his second feature.
