In 1959 he graduated from the Tbilisi Art School with a decorator diploma.
In 1961 - course for animators at the Soyuzmultfilm studio (workshop of R.A. Kachanov and B.P. Dezhkin).
From 1973 to 1978 he studied at Tbilisi State University at the Faculty of Humanities (department of film studies).
In 1961-91 he worked in the animation department of the "Georgia-Film" studio as an animator and production designer.
In 1976, he made his debut as a director.
From 1984 to 1993 he headed the animation studio of the Academy of Arts in Tbilisi.
Since 2006 he has been teaching at the Tbilisi State University of Theater and Cinema (group of directors and animators).
