A young veteran returns to his mother. Devastated by the war he tries to start a new life but the ghosts of the past do not let him go. In civilian life the hero is confronted with an indifferent and aggressive society, imbued with unfounded hatred towards another religion and another nationality. The hero tries to redeem himself, to wash himself of his sins, overcoming the obstacles set by fate.
