A group of scientists from the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) led by Innokenti Pavlov with the support of the residents of Alaikhovsky went to the northern tip of Kotelny Island of the Novosibirsk archipelago of the Arctic Islands in early June 2019. Their goal was to excavate fragments of a mammoth skeleton in the Arctic Ocean zone.
