Plot synopsis

The film emphasizes and consecrates the immortality of the art of the brilliant choreographer Marius Petipa, whose creative heritage continues to live and develop thanks to the active cultural ties between Russia and France. The leaders of the leading ballet companies of both countries speak throughout the film. It presents in an exciting form a broad panorama of modern choreographic theater, in which - along with the bright creations of talented masters and bold experiments of avant-garde artists - the ballet masterpieces of Mr. Petipa, which still form the basis of dance art and academic repertoire, are carefully preserved. The film develops in detail the main thesis: Marius Petipa is the vibrant history of classical ballet.
