The film is devoted to the way cinema shows painting. Nathan is the pseudonym of the artist Natalia Shevchenko. For more than 20 years she has created portraits of famous writers and composers, choreographers and athletes. On his canvases, biblical subjects and events of one of the most terrible pages of the Great Patriotic War - the blockade of Leningrad. More than 800 canvases, and in each of them one can feel the energy and admiration for life. Now the artist's canvases look at the viewer from the screen. The frame of the painting is in the camera frame, the texture of the painting in the aesthetics of cinema. The light in which the characters of the film live is combined with the magical light of the paintings. The director becomes co-author and opponent, narrator and spectator.
