On the steppe in the Orenburg National Nature Reserve, a small population of wild Przewalski's horses lives in its natural habitat. Researchers are reintroducing the species with the aim of one day releasing the animals back into the wild. For the moment, this is impossible: without man, the species risks extinction. How does a wild horse see the world? Nowadays, people are prepared to study how it sees things. Przewalski's horses live in harems with a relatively strict hierarchy, are psychologically close to humans, but at the same time remain wild with their animal instincts and habits. And although horses are interested in humans, they are dangerous to them: a careless movement can lead to death. Despite this, the employees develop warm and friendly relationships with some of the horses; they recognise each of them and know their names. The film gives two perspectives on reality: that of the horse and that of man.
