Documentary film about the unique expedition of the Russian Geographical Society to Bennett Island.
In the summer of 2022, a Yakut team of eight people, under the auspices of the Russian Geographical Society, made a unique expedition to a remote island in the Arctic Ocean, Bennett Island, on inflatable catamarans. No one believed that they could even go out into open water on such ships, but they sailed almost 900 km across the seas, built a rescue depot on the island, installed an Orthodox cross, the sacred Yakut serge, thereby protecting Russia’s national borders in the Arctic. And they walked the same distance back to the mainland. They also conducted scientific research, collected water samples, studied the flora and fauna of these territories, which they then submitted to the Academy of Sciences.
