Commentaries

Director's vision
"Unknown Tsvetaeva" is, of course, a portrait film. Initially, the director intended to shoot the film in the best traditions of domestic Soviet documentary filmmaking, as nostalgia for the past, which takes place in the present. The viscous, measured frame and narration of the presenter only emphasize the nature of the main character in her thoughtful reflections and stories. After all, back then, in the Silver Age, there was a different sense of time that the director wanted to convey to today's viewers. One of the main reasons for filming was the desire to capture the "fading nature", those who personally knew Anastasia Tsvetaeva, as well as to tell about little-known pages of the writer's life and arouse the interest of the audience in this historical figure. The director found the fact that the Tsvetaeva sisters were the golden youth of the Silver Age to be especially interesting, it was curious what excited their minds, what views and interests they had and how they, having lost their mother early, and then all their wealth, coped with adversity. Many experts believe that Anastasia Tsvetaeva lived her life for herself and her sister, living to 99 years old. Her fate was full of twists and turns, hardships, happiness, loneliness, inspiration, faith and miracles.
