Plot synopsis
Based on the play by Mikhail Shatrov, staged by the Vakhtangov Theatre. The story of the conclusion of the Brest Peace - a huge and monstrous compromise that the Bolshevik government made to save the revolution - had something Shakespearean in its scope, which allowed Robert Sturua, the creator of fascinating Shakespearean performances ("Richard III", "King Lear"), to stage Shatrov's play as a variation on Shakespearean chronicles.
