Plot synopsis
Based on the story of the same name by A.P. Chekhov

Land surveyor Gleb Gavrilovich Smirnov, arriving at the Gnilushki station, asks the gendarme where he can find some transportation to General Khokhotov's estate, where he is expected. Gleb Gavrilovich hires a driver, Klim—a huge giant, the owner of a skinny horse. The journey ahead is long, through the forest. Smirnov is scared, and he begins making up stories about the revolvers he has and his own desperate courage.
