Plot synopsis
Film adaptation of the Georgian comic opera ‘Keto and Kote’. The 1880s. Prince Levan Pantiachvili spends his life feasting. Once a wealthy landowner, he irresponsibly squanders the rest of his fortune. Despite his advanced age, he decides to improve his financial situation by marrying a rich woman. To this end, he sends a matchmaker to the wealthy merchant Varakhidze, father of the beautiful Elo. Varakhidze is willing to give his consent to Elo's marriage to a mature prince. Through this union, he hopes to gain access to high society. The date of the visit to Elo is set, but she wants nothing to do with the prince as she is in love with Ilo, a young teacher. Another matchmaker, Khanouma, gets involved.
