Plot synopsis
Joonas Toots returns from Russia to his homeland—the parish of Paunvere, on the Yulesoo (“Marshland”) farmstead. In Russia, he worked as the manager of a large estate. Toots aims to use the money he earned there, as well as his knowledge and progressive farming experience, to turn his father’s impoverished farm into a thriving and profitable enterprise. Back home, Toots reunites with his old friends Georg Adniel Kiir and Arno Tali, who, for the most part, haven’t changed much in character. An irreconcilable rivalry develops between Toots and Kiiro over Teele’s hand and heart…
