Octave Granier is an honest and uncompromising attorney general. One evening, he takes in Yvonne and her son. He suggests Yvonne, who is a model, to his friend Édouard Gravitch, a foreign sculptor. Soon, Octave falls in love with Yvonne. They decide to get married. One night, as he is returning home, the lawyer is attacked in the street and stripped of the files of a major espionage case. Shortly after, Yvonne learns that Gravitch was an accomplice in this nighttime attack. But the sculptor shows her a letter that accuses Octave. It is a fake. She kills him. Arrested, she is accused by Octave who overwhelms her. She is sentenced to death and executed. Octave is given a gospel that belonged to Yvonne. He discovers the famous letter there. He kills himself.
