Plot synopsis
Based on Nikolai Gogol’s comedy of the same title.
Advanced in years and pushed by his chum Kochkarev, the clerk Podkolesin seeks in marriage Agafya Tikhonovna, the overripe girl of merchant origin... Yet, at the last minute, just before the wedding, the hesitant groom escapes...
