Plot synopsis
A little girl and a boy of eight and nine years old live in a remote village in the steppe. There is no road to school, which is 4 km away. It feels like we are living at the beginning of the twentieth century. But back then, life was bustling here, whereas now there are only two children in the whole village. The boy's father dreams of building a snowmobile, and in the meantime, the little girl's mother sometimes drives them to school on horseback. School is another world, books are read there, pretty songs are sung, and fun is had. But the two children are walking on the long road again. During the journey they argue and then make up. Any excuse is good, like the multiplication table for example. What will become of them when they grow up? Will they be able to leave here? We want to believe that they will.
