Plot synopsis

Adaptation of several stories by Sholem Aleikhem whose heroes are Jews from the shtetls of the "settlement zone", subject to numerous restrictions under the tsarist regime. The adaptation denounces the anti-Semitism of police officers, who associate Jews with the waves of protests at the beginning of the century.
