Alexandre, a bachelor suffering from thrombosis, could die at any moment in the event of a sudden violent movement. He decides to die "of love" and has the following ad placed in the newspaper: "Man, 40 years old, cultured, independent, suffering from an incurable disease (heart), is looking for the woman of his life for a limited period, in order to marry her and pass on his property to her". The authors of the film have submitted this ad to the newspaper. Then the candidates start to telephone and introduce themselves.
