From Paul Gundersen's book "The Last Baron of Montrepos".
A man is sitting in an armchair. He is very old, almost a hundred years old. A Finnish aristocrat, he took part in the Soviet-Finnish war (30/11/1939- 13/3/1940). He returns to the fields of these fierce battles 50 years later. But it is not only the war that connects him to these places... Here lived a man he did not know personally but with whom his destiny is forever linked... Paul von Nicolay (1860-1919) was the last owner of the Montrepos estate, someone who tried to stop the world's course but who tumbled, inexorably drawn towards an inevitable catastrophe, the revolution of 1917. He tried to do the little that was within his means. He believed that the cause of his life did not depend on circumstances, even the most tragic, and that it would endure in spite of everything.
